Texas Driving Record (Type 3A)

Most Texas courts require a Type 3A certified driving record from Texas DPS as part of your ticket dismissal submission. This is a separate document ordered directly from the Texas Department of Public Safety — not included in the course fee.

Ticket Dismissal — Court Permission Required

Choose this if you have received court permission to take a defensive driving course to clear a ticket and keep points off your record. Learn how to get court permission

You must get court permission before enrolling. Enrolling without it does not guarantee dismissal.

Insurance Discount Only — No Ticket Required

Select this if you only want to lower your monthly auto insurance rates. No court permission needed. No traffic ticket needed. We recommend checking with your agent first to confirm your discount eligibility.

This version cannot be used to dismiss a traffic ticket. The court will not accept it.

Workplace Requirements — Employer Requested

Choose this if your employer or company has requested proof of defensive driving for your job or fleet driving duties.

This certificate is for employment records only and is not valid for court-ordered ticket dismissal.

Student Licensing & Education — Ages 18–24

Select this if you are a driver aged 18–24 fulfilling Texas licensing requirements or completing a court-ordered safety program. This ensures you meet the specific educational standards required for your driver’s license.

Texas Driving Record (Type 3A) — Order from Texas DPS

This is not a course option — it is a separate government document. Most Texas courts require a Type 3A certified driving record from the Texas Department of Public Safety as part of your ticket dismissal submission. Order it at txapps.texas.gov. It takes 5–7 business days to arrive by mail.
